Return of the NT Mini!

After large customer demand, Analogue has decided to re-release the NT Mini for one final run. This is no emulation machine — it uses FPGA boards to duplicate the Famicom/NES hardware. This means that the hardware matches as close as possible to the original hardware so there won’t be compatibility issues with the game library.

The NT Mini can output to 1080p via HDMI or high-quality analog video signals including: RGB, Component, S-Video, and Composite. The picture is razor sharp and the compatibility is unmatched comparing to other third-party systems. Of course, audio was not overlooked with the NT Mini outputting at 48KHz 16 bit stereo. The original controller ports (x4) are duplicated as well as the Famicom expansion port. It’s fully compatible with the original hardware and peripherals, from the Gun Zapper, to the Famicom Disk System. The second run does have a few nice improvements to boot: gold plated I/O’s, new UI, and branding.

The outer casing is fabricated from a solid block of 6061 aluminum giving the system a unique look and feel. It’s built quite solidly! They don’t make their own controllers, so the 8Bitdo NES30 wireless controller is included. 8Bitdo boasts a lag-free wireless controller, and after much testing, I never noticed any lag while playing. Now, this is my personal observation as I lack the tech to truly test input lag.

This system is fantastic for a collector or those that truly want the best retro experience as possible on their NES/Famicom games, but it does come at a price–$499 for the system and one 8Bitdo NES30 controller.
