Microsoft Releases New Gaming Features on Edge

In a bid to make Edge more relevant, Microsoft is adding new gaming features it on Windows 10 & 11. Along with the features, Microsoft (MSFT) has also created a new Gaming Homepage and integration for casual gaming. These new features start on Edge version 103, which is out now.

The Gaming Homepage contains live streams, gaming news, Xbox content (of course), and quick access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is a nice feature. The browser contains a dedicated games menu which offers free-to-play casual and arcade games.

Microsoft Edge Efficiency Mode is designed to cut down on resource use by the Edge browser (CPU and RAM usage) while gaming, so the browser doesn’t have to be closed while gaming. MSFT also added a Clarity Boost feature for Xbox Cloud Gaming which is a spatial upscaling feature designed to make streamed games sharper and clearer.

The Xbox Game Pass Widget lists new games that have been added to the Game Pass subscription, games coming soon, trending games, and recently played games.

These features will benefit casual PC gamers and Xbox Cloud Gaming users, but for hardcore PC gamers and console gamers, this might not have a big impact for them.
